On Thursday, May 14th, Global Training Aviation (GTA) celebrated the graduation of its latest cohort of students on the A320 DGCA India Type Rating course at its Madrid facilities.
The ceremony marked the successful completion of an intensive five-week training program, where five cadets progressed through a demanding journey combining theory, simulation, and real operational preparation.
More than just the end of a course, the event represented the beginning of each cadet’s professional path toward becoming an airline pilot.
Meet the Graduates
This batch demonstrated commitment, discipline, and strong performance throughout the entire Airbus A320 Type Rating DGCA India program.
The graduates are: Shivam Kukreja, Muskaan Sangal, Yash Jitendra Jaiswal, Supriya Dahiya and Mehul Gaurav. Each of them now joins a growing network of GTA-trained Indian pilots, prepared to enter an increasingly competitive aviation industry.
Inside the A320 Type Rating Training at GTA
The program, designed specifically for DGCA India pilots, offers a structured and immersive learning experience over approximately five weeks.
- Ground School and Theoretical Training
The cadets began their training with 84 hours of ground school, combining Computer-Based Training (CBT) and in-person theoretical sessions at GTA Madrid.
This phase focused on building a solid understanding of aircraft systems, procedures, and operational concepts.
- Simulation Training: From FBS to Full Flight Simulator
Practical training was carried out at the Indra simulation centre, where cadets completed 20 hours in Fixed Base Simulator (FBS) and 44 hours in Full Flight Simulator (FFS).
One of the highlights of this batch was the opportunity to complete VPT sessions directly in a Full Flight Simulator, enhancing the transition from theory to real operational scenarios.
- Personalized Mentoring Throughout the Course
Midway through the training, cadets attended a mentoring session with Standardization Manager Francisco Espinosa, where they addressed key doubts and received guidance before entering the simulator phase.
This continuous support reflects GTA’s commitment to accompanying each cadet throughout their training journey, not just delivering isolated training modules.
- First Experience with the A320 Neo Simulator
This batch also had the unique opportunity to become the first group to fly GTA’s new A320 Neo simulator, completing a touch-and-go session that added an extra layer of realism and innovation to their training experience.
A Graduation Ceremony to Remember
The graduation ceremony was marked by a close and emotional atmosphere, bringing together cadets, instructors and some members of the GTA staff.
During the event, reflections delivered by Daniel Dominguez (Commercial Director) and Javier Arnaiz (GTA Advisor), focused on the importance of high-quality training in today’s competitive aviation landscape, as well as the responsibility that comes with becoming a professional pilot. Both highlighted the significance of continuous learning and the mindset required to succeed in the airline industry.
The event included an official presentation of certificates and awards, during which the cadets were recognized for their hard work and dedication. Following the ceremony, attendees shared a moment together during a coffee break, in which they exchanged views and shared their experiences of their training and stay in Madrid.
The celebration continued with a farewell lunch alongside GTA’s Commercial Director and team members, providing a final opportunity to strengthen connections before the cadets take their next steps
Beyond Type Rating: Training Airline-Ready Pilots
At GTA, training goes beyond completing a type rating. The objective is not only to teach procedures but also to develop decision-making skills, situational awareness, and professional thinking, all essential for working in an airline environment. This philosophy ensures that cadets are prepared not just to pass exams, but to operate confidently in real-world scenarios.
With over 20 years of experience training Indian pilots, GTA has built a methodology focused on transforming cadets into airline-ready professionals. Through a combination of theoretical training, advanced simulation, and personalized mentoring, GTA prepares cadets for the transition from training to professional airline operations.
This batch now joins a growing community of pilots trained by GTA, many of whom are already advancing their professional careers in the aviation industry.
