Indra has signed a new contract with the Spanish pilot training company GTA to supply an Airbus A320 simulator to the new GTA training center near Jakarta airport, Indonesia.
The simulator will be operational in the first half of next year and certified at level D – the top category for civil simulators. This guarantees maximum realism during training. It will also receive certification from international and local air safety authorities.
Indra is set to add a new development to this A320 simulator version by incorporating a visual system based on LED projectors that cut energy use and maintenance costs.
GTA decided to purchase this training system for one of the most popular aircrafts used by airlines around the world to cover the demand for training in the Asia Pacific region. This region has seen rapid growth in air traffic in recent years that is leading airlines to take on new professionals who need to have a minimum number of simulator training hours per year.
In turn, Indonesia as a nation depends on air travel to connect its different islands. This makes it the ideal base for the new pilot training facility.
With regard to Indra, this new contract boosts the technology company’s presence in the region. Indra has made deliveries of different helicopter and aircraft simulators for Airbus and Airbus Helicopters in Beijing (China) and Kobe (Japan), as well as for the Chinese airline Beijing Capital Airlines based on the island of Hainan (China). In turn, the new contract with GTA strengthens Indra’s relationship as a technology provider for this company. Indra is one of the biggest simulator manufacturers worldwide, having delivered 200 simulators to over 50 clients in 23 countries.
